Leivik Jacobson of Expand 770 joins the show to give us the history and the inspiration behind his organization, and answers some practical questions about how expanding 770 could actually work.

FAQ

  • Don’t we need to wait for the court case to end?

Let the fight be about bigger things! If both parties agree to expand, there’s no need to wait for other conflicts to resolve. Imagine not buying a bigger pair of pants when you have outgrown them because you are in the middle of litigation. The crowd of people who come to 770 has outgrown the physical space and that has nothing to do with other conflicts.

  • I don’t feel comfortable in 770 the way it is now!

Have you ever been in the same room as someone who smells bad? The smaller the room, the more uncomfortable it will be.

Relative to the amount of people who come to 770 it is considered a tiny room, no wonder it makes some people feel uncomfortable.

Let’s expand 770 so everyone can feel at home!

  • Whose side are you on?

United we stand! “With Achdus (unity) everything can be accomplished”. We are not about picking sides or parties. The reason for exile was lack of unity, but expanding 770 is about bringing the Beis Hamikdosh down, it must be done without fighting. Dovid Hamelech did not merit to build the Beis Hamikdosh because he had to fight. His son Shlomo merited to build it because his reign was a period of calm and peace.

  • What’s the big deal about 770?

770 is Beis Rabbeinu Shebibovel, the main dwelling place of the Shechina in Exile. The Rebbe explains that this is where the Beis Hamikdosh will first be revealed and from here it will move back to Jerusalem together with 770 attached to the actual walls of the Beis Hamikdosh. We have the ability to take part in the actual building of the 3rd Beis Hamikdosh!

  • Why not preserve 770 as it looked before Gimmel Tammuz?

The true way of preserving that original look is to constantly expand 770, because that’s actually the look that 770 always had. Would you entertain the thought of preserving the Chabad Shluchim to the amount of Shluchim we had before Gimmel Tammuz?! The Rebbe’s vision is Uforatzta! Expand!!

    Let’s preserve that vision!

  • Why are we getting involved in something that belongs to Merkos and Aguch?

We are not looking to overthrow any organizations, we are not looking to take over or assume anyone’s responsibilities. We are just doing our part. We cannot remain on the sideline and watch our lives go by without the Rebbe’s wish coming to fruition. Therefore, we are taking it upon ourselves to promote and encourage the expansion to happen now!

  • What about all the other issues that 770 has?

Focus on the goal! We are not letting ourselves get distracted with any other issues that need to be resolved regarding 770. There may be very serious issues that indeed need to be resolved, but those issues need to be separated from the expansion efforts.

  • Why now?

It has been over 30 years since the Rebbe published the Kuntres Beis Rabeinu Shebibovel, urging every Jew to get involved in expanding 770. Similar to what the Rebbe taught us about the Beis Hamikdosh, we apply here: If 770 is not expanded today it’s as if it is being …. today. Ker a velt heint! Expand now!

  • I am a shliach, I have my own shlichus to worry about.

Chabad Lubavitch headquarters is 770. If the head is congested then the whole body suffers. Are you able to bring your mekurovim to see headquarters when you know that there’s no room for them to sit or even stand?

How about when you come for the Kinus Hashluchim? This past Kinus friday night, 770 was so packed that they had to lift children over people’s heads to save them from being crushed.
