770 Expanding! What?
“…‘Devarim betailim’ is not ‘idle talk’, rather, that the one who is talking—his words have no concrete outcome...” With these few words in the winter of 5747/1987, the Rebbe bemoaned the fact that what he says is not translated into action.
Looking at the fact that the Rebbe took of his time and came out to personally lay the cornerstone for 770’s expansion, although some of the work was done—but the Rebbe wants the final product! To say “we tried, but A, B, and C are the issues getting in the way”… this is not in his dictionary!
For me, the meaning of the above is the culmination of the final touches to “chatzi kadur hatachton” (the lower hemisphere). As the Rebbe mentions in “Kuntres Mikdash Me’at Beis Rabeinu Shebebavel”, based on the Maharsha in Megillah 29a, that the Shechinah resting in the Nasi Hador’s shul is related to the fact that the Jews took stones from the Temple and brought them into exile with them. Meaning, the expansion of 770 is the completion of bringing the Shechinah down into 770 in the time of exile, so to speak. And if, G-d forbid, there is a lack in this expansion and completion, the Shechinah in exile is waiting to come down, until it gets done.
So, what are we waiting for? Let’s expand today—now!
